| Everything you’ll ever need to know to join band. |
| Do I need any experience to join the band? |
| No. We will teach any child of any experience even if you’ve never seen bagpipes, drums, or dance ghillies. If you do happen to have some experience we might just start you in a more advanced group.Bagpipers must be at least 10 years old and able to span the finger-holes on a practice chanter. Drummers must be at least 10 and able to properly hold the sticks. |

| How do I start? |
| The best way is to eMail our Membership Chair, Ruth Robertson at membership@cypb.org or Just show up. Let anyone (youth or parent) know you’re here to check things out and that you need someone to show you the ropes. Don’t get discouraged if the first person doesn’t know what to do. They may be almost as new as you. |
| Do I need my own instrument or dance shoes? |
| No. You can buy these items through the band or get reccomendations from the instructors. We prefer this. It gives us the opportunity to make sure it is the right size and quality. The wrong choice here can discourage beginning musicians and dancers and ruin the experience for them. |
| Do I need to buy a kilt or uniform? |
| No. The band buys it’s own uniforms and assigns them to the musician or dancer. Some accessories are purchased and owned by each member but we’ll give a list of these items to each member when they are kilted at the formal Annual Kilting Ceremony. |
| How much does tuition cost? |
| Tuition is $65 per month per youth member. Practice chanters, drum pads, and dance shoes need to be purchased. Major items like bagpipes, drums, and uniforms are provided to the student by the band for a refundable deposit. |
